とあり、インドの25～34歳成人の死亡者のうち、HIV感染率は8.1％を占めており、その40％がエイズにより死亡しているという。HIVの感染者数は2006年の公式推計値は230万人であったが、今回の調査では140～160万人であり40％も低くなっているそうだ。このことから、感染症の発症者の数が減っていることが、今回のエイズ死亡者の減少につながったとしている。
